Holy Smokes Batman!
Posted by: Heather at 12:27PM EST on August 31, 2005
I have a TON of writing assignments this semester. Like over 50 pages worth.
Several short 1 page review type things and a 10 page research paper on
diversity. Then my english class. 4 different papers, the
first couple are 4-6 pages long and don't seem like they will be too
bad even though the first one is due a week from Friday. The last
2? Yipes. Is it too late to drop the class?
Paper 3 is 6-8 pages long about a problem outside of the US.
Paper 4 is 8-10 pages long and is a revised version of #3 but adding in
a solution to the problem. The proposition needs to be written
with a specific person in mind who is in a position to affect change
with regards to the problem. This paper is to be turned in in
triplicate. First copy professor will grade, second copy will go
to the English Department board that reads things like that, and the
third copy will go to whoever our target audience is with a letter of
explanation thanking them for their time. YIPES.
I'll probably post the papers here, possibly in a couple of different
posts so it's not overwhelmingly long. But first I have to write
them. Oy vey.
I'm back!

Oh, and I left by the way.
Well, I didn't leave but I took a very much needed 'net break. School is back in full force so I'll be back around some more and I have lots of stories to share, but it's late and I'm out of time so they'll have to wait for another day.
The Psycho Neighbor -- Part IV
Posted by: Heather at 11:47AM EST on August 4, 2005
I
don't think I've posted parts 1 through 3 so this might be kind of like
Star Wars and eventually you'll get the beginning of the story.
(Just remind me when I come back off of vacation!)
Psycho neighbor next door has
a history of causing problems and she's only lived there a few
months! It's getting unbearable.
The other night at 9 o'clock
I hear *bang bang* on my door. It's not overly late, but later
than I'd expect for most of my normal company without a warning phone
call, not to mention that the 'knock' wasn't so much a knock as it was
a bang.
I open the door and see my
neighbor that lives on the other side of psycho neighbor at my door
looking almost in tears. She asked if I'd step outside for a
minute to talk to her about something and I do.
A bit of history on this
neighbor, she's going through a divorce, fighting for custody of her
children, just went back to school, is struggling financially.
She doesn't parent the way I prefer, but that's ok because she's
parenting her children and not mine. We have a lot of differences
but overall she's been a good neighbor.
Psycho Neighbor decided that
since she was already on the phone with CPS reporting me (That's Part
III of the story) she'd report the neighbor as well. Luckily we
both got the same caseworker, and now CPS is not accepting anymore
phone calls from Psycho Neighbor.
Since that didn't go as
planned she decided to make daily phone calls to neighbor's landlord to
report things. Hideous behavior like having company over and
allowing the children to play outside. All things that point to
drug running. At least according to Psycho Neighbor.
Turns out the landlord got
tired of daily phone calls and decided to evict the neighbor to make
the phone calls stop. She has 2 weeks to move, no where to go and
no money to do it with. She was really lucky to find a cheap
place to rent in an relatively high renters market. She use to
have a house with a large yard and a neighborhood full of
children. Now she's afraid she will end up in the shelter with
her children she is fighting for custody of.
Add to the mix that she has
gotten private information on the neighbor that short of going through
her mail I'd have no idea how she'd get it or why on earth she'd feel
the need to call her lawyer and report these same allegations.
I'm angry for the neighbor, and afraid that with them gone she'll turn
her attention back on us. Really afraid.
Things have been turning around for the better for us, I don't want to have some nosy Psycho Neighbor screw up my life now.
